James Suckling: 94 Points

This is already very complex with tobacco blackberries and hints of cedar. It?s medium-bodied with firm and layered tannins. Juicy and so delicious. It can age too. Delightful now but better after 2025.

Falstaff: 93 Points

Dark ruby garnet, purple reflections, subtle rim brightening. Delicate liquorice, ripe red cherry fruit, some cassis and candied orange zest in the background. Medium complexity, delicate dried plums, fresh acidity, blackberry fruit on the finish, mineral aftertaste, already easy to drink.

Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider: 92 Points

Dark in color, it takes no effort to find the cassis, black raspberry, spice, tobacco and earthy notes. In the mouth, you'll find soft but stern, fine tannins, clean, sweet, ripe fruits and polish in the finish. The wine was produced from blending 56.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30.8% Merlot, 12.3% Petit Verdot. 91-93 Pts

I'm always shocked at the quality of the base Pauillac from this château but I guess at this point I shouldn't be given that it's outstanding in just about every vintage. The 2018 Le Pauillac De Château Latour has a medium to full-bodied ripe rounded even sexy style as well as sunny aromatics of red and black fruits smoked tobacco and lead pencil shavings. It's balanced concentrated and incredibly satisfying.

Decanter: 92 Points

Ripe red cherries and plums with tobacco and spice notes - this smells hot and heady forward and indulgent. Mouthwatering straight away - juicy with sucrosity hinting at the hot vintage. Slightly thick and plump in the mouth but tannins are also firmly textured giving bite and spiced wood elements on the tongue. The Cabernet stands out giving a medicinal herbal element and wide menthol finish that

The Wine Independent: 91 Points

The 2018 Pauillac de Chateau Latour is composed of 56.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30.8% Merlot, and 12.3% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a little coaxing to bring out notes of plum preserves, juicy blueberries, and chocolate-covered cherries, followed by hints of licorice, Indian spices, garrigue, and clove oil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate bursts with seductive black and blue fruits, framed by plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long with a compelling lift of freshness. This “third” wine of Château Latour accounted for 21% of the production in 2018.

Of the 2018 Pauillac de Latour, winemaker Hélène Genin said, “We were very careful with the harvest date this year. We tried to harvest earlier, so that the tannins are ripe and there is a good weight, but not too much.” An extreme vintage that started off with one of the worst episodes of widespread mildew that Bordeaux has ever known, followed by a hot, dry summer, the concentrated 2018 Pauillac certainly has more weight and richness than is typical, yet it maintains a sense of decorum. This “third” wine of Château Latour accounted for 21% of the production this year.
